MANGALAM   (Meaning)

      

1. The Lord has Bhoomidevi as consort and Brahma and other devas as children and grand - children. May auspicious glory be to the Lord of Tiruvinnagar.

2. The Lord of Tiruvinnagar is worshipped by sage Markandeya. He destroyed demons and has bright, red lotus-like eyes. May auspicious glory be the Lord of Tiruvinnagar.

3. The Lord of Tiruvinnagar is always praised by Nammalwar, Tirumangai alwar, Poigai alwar, and Peyalwar. May auspicious glory be to the of Bhoomidevi.

4. The Lord of Tiruvinnagar is worshipped by acharyas like Vedanta Desika. May auspicious glory be to the Lord of Bhoomidevi.

5. The Lord has assumed here the five forms of Ponnappan, Maniappan, Muthappan, Ennappan and Tiruvinnagarappan. May auspicious glory be to the one without equals.

6. The Lord of Tiruvinnagar indwells in conflicting objects. He bestows wealth and destroys evils of His devotees. May auspicious glory be to the Lord of Bhoomidevi.

7. The Lord of exquisite beauty has manifested here, out of mercy for His devotees. He has agreed to only saltless offerings, to marry Bhoomidevi. May auspicious glory be to the Lord, who is the refuge of all.

8. Shining with beauty and effulgence, the Lord has manifested here under the Suddhananda vimana. He is like a kalpaka tree (which grants all desires) on the banks of the Ahoratra pushkarini. May auspicious glory be to the Lord.

9. The Lord of the lotus eyes showed Himself here to sage Markandeya, river Kaveri, Garuda and Dharmadevata. May auspicious glory be to the Lord of Bhoomidevi.

10. Those who recite these verses, praising the glory of Bhoomidevi and Srinivasa, with devotion- May they be showered with all prosperity.

11. Our acharyas and all the earlier acharyas praised and worshipped the Lord of Tiruvinnagar. May auspicious glory be to this Lord of Bhoomidevi.

12. O Lord of Tiruvinnagar, kindly reside here eternally and protect all, till the sun and moon and stars last and till the earth lasts (i.e.eternally).

On the day of Sravana and Ekadasi in the month of Panguni, Narayana manifested here in the Abhijit muhurtha. He then married Bhoomidevi and residing here permanently, showers His blessings on all devotees here.  He is the ocean of all auspicious qualities and He grants all desires of His devotees. This Lord is also called Srinivasa, since Mahalakshmi is always with Him as Bhoomidevi. May auspicious glory be to this Lord.
